December's "Who's Hot"

You may recognize my choice for "Who's Hot" as a very funny comedian and actor. You've seen him in "B.A.P.S." as Halle Berry's boyfriend. He's also been on "ComicView" many times. His name is Pierre and he's about to step behind the camera and crack us up! His movie "Da Love Of Money" premieres on December 18th on BET. I talked with Pierre and found there's much more to him than a "lightskin" funny man...

On-an-poppin: So, Pierre, where are you from?
Pierre:First of all thanks for interviewing me, I truly appreciate it.
I'm from Wash DC where so many great comics came from, I came up with Tommy Davidson, Martin Lawrence, Dave Chappelle, Wanda Sykes, Monique, DC has so many crazy people.
On-an-poppin: When did you first realize you were funny?
Pierre: I was always good at "jonesin'" (talking bout folks) people tried me cause I was cute, had what they thought was good hair, and skinny..lol But I'm can act more "ni99afied" than the next dude..lol I use to like it when someone tried me.
On-an-poppin: What comedians inspired you, and why?
Pierre: Both my parents are very funny. You'd be surprised how off the hook they are and Eddie Murphy...when I seen him. I knew what I wanted to do, for the rest of my life and I was 17yrs old.
On-an-poppin: I see you're going behind the camera. What made you want to go behind the scenes?
Pierre: Yeah I had to get behind the camera, I have too many ideas and I KNOW what's funny, I try to express it the best way in my previous movies but the directors are only going to let me do so much, this way with me writing, directing and producing I can give you what I'm thinking.
On-an-poppin: Which do you like most acting, stand-up or producing?
Pierre: There's no one over the other, it's almost like asking which one of your children is your favorite, 1 day one might be more than the other, but at the end of the day you LOVE them crazy lil ones all the same, hey YOU chose to have them.
On-an-poppin: Tell me about the movie you're producing that premieres on BET on December 18th.
Pierre: I wrote this movie in about a month, filmed it in 14 days and spent 70k of my own money making, because I would hear people asking me when I was going to be in another movie, people fail to realize Hollywood only makes about 4 all black movies a YEAR! There are 1000's trying for those parts. I got very close on several roles, so I said "hey I'll make my own and see what happens" I put about 30 comics in it and made sure my crew was 80% black. Even though at times it could be stressful I had the greatest time. There are a lot of comics who had never been in anything prior to this and now have been in several tv shows and movies. BET is really excited about this film, they feel like they are premiering it to the world. Well at least black folk..lol
On-an-poppin: Any more projects in the works?
Pierre: Another movie and I'm on tour with a play "Heaven I Need A Hug" with Robin Givens and Ruben Studard
On-an-poppin: You were in one of my favorite movies, B.A.P.S., with Halle Berry. How was it working with Halle?
Pierre: Halle Berry was great, she chose me out of all the actors she met. And I'll always be thankful for that. People always tell me what a good job I did in that movie, but truly it was my first movie and it was all her, she is so good, it made me look good....Thanks Halle :)
On-an-poppin: Do you still keep in touch?
Pierre: No, and no I'm not the baby's father..I wish ..lol
On-an-poppin: What would people be shocked to know about you?
Pierre: How much I care about people.
On-an-poppin: What do you want people to know about Pierre?
Pierre: That people should watch my movie For Da Love of Money and the contact BET and tell them how much you enjoyed it at
www.tvviewerscomments@bet.com
Again Thank you for interviewing me.

I reached out to Pierre via myspace. He happens to be a friend of mine. He was very kind and "real" and I appreciate that. Not only is he talented, he is very down-to-earth. Watch "Da Love Of Money" on December 18th on BET. Support African -American movies and tell BET and other networks we need more. That's What's Hot!!!!
