No He Didn't!

A Georgia man tried to extort $1.5 million dollars from Oprah Winfrey. Apparently, Kiefer Bonvillain, 36, met a Harpo Studios employee and struck up conversation. He taped the conversations and tried to tell Oprah that the remarks were disparaging. He claimed that the conversation could hurt her. He had 12 hours of talk. The FBI was notified and set up a sting. They paid the man $3000.00 and promised more. The man was arrested at the drop-off point. He posted $20,000.00 bail, and was released. He claims this is all a misunderstanding. Note to readers: I'd say the same thing, if I were him. Note to extortionist: Go straight to jail! Don't pass go, and don't collect anymore money!

Laurence Fishburn and his wife Gina Torres are expecting a baby this summer! This will be the first for Torres and third for Fishburn. Gina Torres can be seen in the new Chris Rock movie " I Think I Love My Wife."

A black employee ant 180 Connect( a cable installation company) was surprised to walk into the equipment room and find a noose hanging. The noose was hanging where all black employees could see but, where only the two white supervisors had access to. When questioned about the noose the supervisors where candid about it and it's use. They said it was two hang two "black" employees. Of course, their lawyer is saying that the comments were taken out of context. What context should it be put in? 180 Connect works with Cablevision and both have been named in the complaint filed with the EEOC. Note to readers: Should you see such blatant racism, photograph and document what you see. Did you know that 1990's fashion icon/model, Roshumba Williams was married to Gary Dourdan. They divorced in the 1990's also. Roshumba keeps it moving with a new reality type show called "Tease." This is a competition show with two up-and-coming hairstylists making magical hair creations. Watch it's debut January 10th on the WE channel. Check your local listings for the show times. Sources are saying that Sherri Shepherd will be the new Star Jones on "The View." Sherri has filled in on many occasions and held her own against Rosie O"Donnell. I hope she fills the spot. My only advice to her would be to keep her private life private. That story about her husband cheating and how she almost killed him (the Lord kept her from it) was amusing but, people don't need to know ALL your business. Why Is Everyone Beating Their Women?

Jim Lampley, the sportscaster, was arrested for domestic violence and violating a restraining order and dissuading a witness. This all stems from a fight on New Years day. Allegedly Jim got drunk and high off of marijuana and started to throw his live-in girlfriend around. He left before she could call the police but, she filed a restraining order. The day that police were at the apartment investigating, Lampley showed up and was arrested. That appearance was how the restraining order charge materialized. Candice Sanders, Miss USA 2003, claims Lampley lives with her in her apartment. Can't he buy his own house? Anyhoo, Miss Sanders was treated for head and neck injuries. Note to readers: Is 2007 the year of the a__ kick? She is too young for him anyway! How old is he 75? LOL

Beyonce was looked over again! The star was not nominated for a Screen Actor's Guild Award. Jennifer Hudson and Eddie Murphy received nominations for their work in "Dreamgirls." Allegedly, Tyrese got into an altercation this morning with his live-in girlfriend. He allegedly punched her in the stomach twice and drove off. If this is true, he needs his ass kicked! No Award For Beyonce!

Beyonce will not be receiving an Oscar for "Best Song" for "Listen." The Academy places a 3 person limit on songwriters. There are four songwriters credited for "Listen." Beyonce's name happens to be the fourth. Therefore, she will not be credited should the song win. Note to readers: Why did it take four people to write that song? My 2 year old cousin was singing that song and I thought SHE wrote it! LOL

I am now instituting a news black-out on the Landing strip (a.k.a. Britney Spears). I will no longer report the follies that are her life! Why is Whitney Houston selling her drawers? Her publicist says it has nothing to do with recent tax troubles. She says many stars sell their costumes after years. I say that Whitney simply isn't going to let Bobby Brown into her drawers, again! Go, Whitney! Many Whitney Houston impersonators will be at the auction. Oprah unveiled her new school in South Africa, this weekend. The star studded opening was quite a who's who! Chris and Malaak Rock, Chris Tucker, Tina Turner, Star Jones, Sidney Poitier, Mariah Carey and Nelson Mandela were there. The guests were asked to bring a personally inscribed book for the library. The opening was not without controversy. During the press conference, a reporter asked Oprah, why only black girls from South Africa? Oprah said, "I don't think I have to appease the white people of South Africa!" Note to readers: That question was like asking, why only white people on "Friends" and "Seinfeld?" Because I wanted only "black" girls! You pay for the school, you have white girls!

Busta's Like Crime, He don't Pay!!!

Busta Rhymes is being charged with third-degree assault. The charges stem from an employee approaching Rhymes about his pay, Instead of paying the driver, Busta assaulted him causing a laceration to the face. Busta is out of the country but, should return today. Note to Busta's employees: Either work for free, or wear a face shield when collecting your pay! Note to readers: I smell a lawsuit! Don't you?

Tragedy!

I hate to start a new year this way but, this needs to be heard. Denver Broncos cornerback, Darrent Williams, was killed this morning in a drive-by shooting. Darrent, 24, was riding in a Hummer limousine when a car pulled up and started shooting the car. Mr. Williams was killed and the other two passengers were injured. This is a case of "you can't party in the hood with that kind of money!" Sad but, true! There are people in the hood that don't want to see people succeed! Please people, if you wasted your talent, let others showcase theirs! Note to readers: Remember, no matter the race, some people waddle in envy!

Oprah's Many Deeds!

Oprah Winfrey spent 5 years and $40 million dollars on a school for impoverished girls in Johannesburg. Ms. Winfrey said she was tired of just writing checks, she wanted to feel close to them. Many say that the school is too lavish. The school has yoga rooms, beauty salons, and fireplaces in all 28 buildings. Oprah said, "These girls need to feel beautiful, they need to be told their beautiful." She went on to say, "Beauty inspires!" Note to readers: I agree! Reach out to our youth and tell them they are beautiful. Stop allowing these magazines and fake idols to dictate beauty. We see too few African-Americans on these covers!
