Lil Scrappy Hurt!

Southern rapper, Lil Scrappy, was hurt overnight in a knife fight, in Atlanta! He survivied the fight but, according to Mediatakeout.com (and you know they aren't always the most truthful), he was arrested and charged with 2 felonies (Marijuana possession and carrying a knife/firearm during a crime). He's also charged with misdemeanor counts of battery and resisting arrest.

Traumatizing, Indeed!

I thought that dark skin people were the only ones suffering at the hands of our OWN people. I remember growing up and hearing, "she/he's so cute to be dark!" The famous one was my darker skinned girlfriends saying, "I'm gonna have a baby by a lightskin or white man so that it can be light!" I fell into that same thing! I am ashamed to say it but, I did. Most of my boyfriends were either mixed race or they passed the "paperbag test." Fortunately, I snapped out of that when it came time to have my child. He is a beautiful mixture of reds and browns and dark browns and I wouldn't have it any other way. Enough of me, I talked about this because Rihanna is discussing it in her latest interview in Instyle magazine. She says that growing up in the Barbados and being "lightskin" was difficult. She says, "“It made me angry; it made me want to fight in my younger years. Having lighter skin wasn’t a problem in my household, but it was when I went to school – which really confused me at first. For the first six years of school, I would go home traumatized. The harassment continued to my very last day of elementary school.”

Sidenote: To all the people who think that you must be light to be beautiful, I say that we come in all shades and all are beautiful. We are the few that can say that we come in all shades! People are dying to be our color! Love yourself and RESPECT yourself!

In Music News!!!

Darryl McDaniels, one half of Run-DMC, was hospitalized today. According to People.com, "Doctors examined McDaniels, who was suffering from pain and swelling in his left arm, and discovered two major blood clots. He is undergoing surgery Friday." I will keep him in my prayers!!!!

Whatever Happened To.....

Whatever happened to Christina Millian? I thought she would totally make it in the biz! She can sing, she can act and she writes songs! What more does America want? On a side note: I saw a "Steve Harvey" episode Christina was in! She was barely recognizable! She was at least 180 pounds! I love watching old shows and looking in the background for people who have made it!

Party Up!

Raven Simone and Jennifer Freeman hit up the BPM Magazine’s 12th Anniversary party last night. I'm not feeling Raven's hair or the sharkskin suit! Jennifer has been invisible, lately. I am pleasantly surprised to see her. She has been M.I.A. since "My Wife And Kids!"

The Espy Awards brought the stars out but, they really showcased the beauty of Nicole Murphy and her new man Michael Strahan. They look like they could be bronzed! Kudos to Nicole!

I will watch Neicy Nash on Fox in her new show, "Do Not Disturb." I will not watch if she will be wearing a flower every show! I think she is funny but, she needs to L.I.G. (let it go) it! Besides, I think Jerry O'Connell is funny as hell!

Al Reynolds is rearing his ugly head, again! According to People.com, Al says, "I am not a homosexual," on a new YouTube video posted Tuesday. Reynolds also claimed that he still carries a torch for the former View host, who filed for divorce earlier this year. But, in a series of three videos, he admits the two are not on speaking terms. "It saddens me," he says. "Our relationship is a little tender and hopefully over time we can heal a lot of that, and we can become friends again." (He echoed that sentiment to the Associated Press, telling the wire service: "I still very much love her. I do. I can't lie to you.") Note to Star: Don't fall for that ish! He is just saying that to get back on his gravy train! Especially since there was no interest in his tell-all book! We got ya number, AL!

Pray For Her...

Singer Natalie Cole has been diagnposed with Hepatitis C. She is said to be doing well, despite the circumstances. Her doctors say, "Natalie has had a terrific response to her medication and is now virus negative," Dr. Graham Woolf, Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at U.C.L.A./Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, said in a statement."This gives her an increased chance of cure." They also say that it is believed that the virus is likely due to her past drug use. I will keep her in my prayers. Natalie has a CD coming out September 9th.

Why????

Why is it that people are saying that Rihanna is overexposed? I see these young Caucasian actresses in the news daily! You can't tell me that alot of the things they do are not orchestrated by their publicists to keep them in the public eye! What's wrong with Rihanna's publicist doing the same thing? I tell you what, she is unforgettable! If you don't see her for a week, you'll be wondering where she is. Unlike others! I say there is no overexposure for African American entertainers. We see too little of them as it is! Let her do her covers! The girl is sharp! Here she is on the cover of "Black Woman" and walking the streets of Milan.

Badu Soundoff!!!!

Erykah Badu is pissed! You all know what you did to her! People have been dissing her for having 3 children (she's pregnant with her 3rd child by Jay Electronica, an up-and-coming rapper/producer) by three different men, all rappers! She had this to say:
“How dare you disrespect the queendom … and my children and my intelligence. I’ve never been so disgusted in all of my life,” the singer began in her rant.
“I am a great mother and caregiver to my two children, and to this world,” Badu wrote. “My children are two of the kindest and happiest people I have met … I am their doctor and their nurse, and even sometimes their mother and their father. I am an excellent mother and resent all of the negative comments and insults on my character.”
“I put much time and though into having and raising my children. I’ve had the honors of having two home births and two wonderful partners by my side. Every relationship I have been in was because i loved the person dearly and was dedicated to us ‘exclusively’ for a number of years. The fathers of my children are my brothers and friends. We have a great deal of respect for one another and always will. We love out children to no end. We took our own ‘vows’ and continue to uphold them, and that is what that is. Question? What is marriage? Who is the judge? … Would it ‘look better’ to marry and divorce and marry again?”
She did admit that she may lose a few fans, but didn’t care, refusing to bite her tongue. “If I lose you as a fan because I want to continue to have children, then f*** off … who needs you … certainly not me … kick rocks … call Tyrone … pack light … bite me,” Badu wrote.At the end, she signs off with a big “kiss my placenta.”

I guess she told ya'll! She is trying to make a new band! Similar to The Commodores, except rappers. There will be at least eight members, all her children by different rappers. Psych! I say it's your uterus! Do with it what you will! Here she is on the cover of "Veg News!" She may be a vegetarian but, there's one meat she has had too much of! Sorry, I had to put that in! LOL

They've Gone Too Far!!!!

The magazine "The New Yorker" has an issue that is supposed to be satirical but, comes off disgusting! The cover shows Obama dressed in Moslem garb and Michelle Obama dressed rather militantly, with a gun. In the background, a flag is burning in the fireplace and a picture of Osama Bin Laden is hung over the fireplace. This is just shameful! Correct me if I'm wrong but, George W. Bush is the president who couldn't find Osama! He would be more likely to be sympathetic to Osama! Write and tell them this is bullshyt! Alonzo Mourning threw his annual "Zo’s Summer Groove Beach Ball" in Miami this weekend. Everybody shows up for Alonzo! Some of the proceeds go to National Kidney Foundation. All the African Americans showed their support. Gabrielle Union, Lauron London, DeRay Davis and Nicole Murphy and Michael Strahan came out to party! The party drew a few unlikely guests like Judge Glenda Hatchett.
