Do you remember sitting on the floor with your legs under you watching a movie that shocked and scared you? The year was 1977. The movie was "Roots." I was riveted to the television set. I remember being angry. I couldn't believe that had really happened. The next day, I went to school and my white friends weren't the same. I saw them as evil and sneaky. This went on for a few days, but kids rebound. If only adults could grow out of the hate, this world would be a better place. Note to readers: Weren't you mesmerized by "Roots?"

Do you remember sitting on the floor with your legs under you watching a movie that shocked and scared you? The year was 1977. The movie was "Roots." I was riveted to the television set.
